On September 14, 2006, The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the APhA Foundation officially broke ground for the APhA headquarters building renovation and expansion to be completed in 2008.
The APhA headquarters is the only privately owned building on the National Mall. Originally designed by renowned architect John Russell Pope, whose work includes the National Archives and the Jefferson Memorial, the APhA headquarters is regarded as a landmark symbolizing a consistent dedication to the advancement of the profession of pharmacy and the contribution that medicines make to creating a healthier society.
The renovation and expansion from the existing 30,000 square feet to over 300,000 square feet will create a building for the future and expand the capacity of APhA and the APhA Foundation. The newly improved building will be a symbol of pharmacy’s rich heritage on one of the most prestigious locations in the country and will be rededicated as the home for pharmacy in our nation’s capital.
Brodie, Collins, Cherel & Associates (BCC) is managing APhA’s capital campaign, with a goal of raising $25 million over three years for the areas of building renovation and new construction, the upcoming Center for Pharmacist-based Health Solutions, and the Cornerstone Fund.
