FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Zambian Organization Chooses BCC to Support Big Game Anti-Poaching Campaign

September 17, 2007

The South Luangwa Conservation Society is on a mission to save the elephants, lions, and other wildlife of the South Luangwa National Park. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, Zambia lost more than three-quarters of its elephant population (nearly 180,000) and all of its rhino population to poaching.

The South Luangwa Conservation Society (SLCS), based in Zambia, chose Brodie Collins Cherel & Associates to support its efforts to stop poaching activities in the park. The organization selected BCC for its extensive experience in representing international organizations in the U.S. and in educating the public about complex environmental issues.

BCC will work with the South Luangwa Conservation Society to build recognition in the U.S. of the threat poaching poses both to large game in the park and to the Zambian tourism industry, which is the foundation of the country’s economy. BCC will also work to generate greater financial support among Americans for the organization and its major operations, including managing anti-poaching patrols and training community scouts.

The South Luangwa National Park is known as one of the greatest wildlife refuges in the world. The park is home to a wide array of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffalo, antelopes, leopards, zebras, hippos, and more, and is considered a premier destination for walking safaris.
